Rob Anderson is a Hungarian-American public artist, muralist, educator, and illustrator working between Queens, New York, and Budapest, Hungary. His work blends the narrative richness of classical painting with the bold simplicity of contemporary illustration, creating large-scale murals and interactive public art experiences that invite people to become active participants in the creative process.

Like an improvisational musician, Anderson approaches every wall, canvas, or gathering as an opportunity to tell a story. His signature Pop-Renaissance style uses vibrant color, expressive line work, and playful symbolism to transform public spaces into places of connection. Whether painting a permanent mural or leading hundreds of people through a collaborative artwork, his goal remains the same: to create art that brings communities together and leaves a lasting sense of ownership and pride.

Community engagement has been central to Anderson’s practice from the beginning. In 2017, he began volunteering at the Kingsbridge Heights Community Center in the Bronx, teaching youth art classes and leading mural workshops. That experience shaped the collaborative approach that continues to define his work today.

Since establishing his public art practice in 2015, Anderson has completed commissions for museums, municipalities, diplomatic institutions, nonprofit organizations, schools, corporations, and private clients throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. His work has been commissioned by organizations including the U.S. Embassy Budapest, the Museum of Fine Arts Budapest, PureGym, LPL Financial, Vornado Realty, Federal Realty Investment Trust, McDermott Will & Emery, and numerous community organizations dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods through public art.

As an educator, Anderson developed and led mural and painting programs through the Brooklyn Arts Council in New York City public schools. He is a City Artist Corps Grant recipient, administered by the New York Foundation for the Arts, where he partnered with students, teachers, and families to design and create a large-scale community mural. His interactive “Kittizen” painting experiences have since welcomed thousands of participants across New York, Florida, California, New Jersey, Canada, and Hungary.

In 2025, Anderson established a working studio and gallery in the heart of Budapest, expanding his practice between North America and Europe while continuing to build partnerships that celebrate culture, creativity, and community.

Across every project, Anderson combines thoughtful design, professional craftsmanship, and genuine collaboration to create public artworks that become lasting landmarks for the people and places they serve. Selected Collaborations & Commissions

U.S. Embassy Budapest

Created three collaborative murals for the official America 250 celebration, inviting more than 1,000 diplomatic guests and community members to contribute to a shared artwork celebrating the enduring relationship between Hungary and the United States.

Museum of Fine Arts Budapest (Szépművészeti Múzeum)

Designed an interactive painting experience inspired by works from the museum’s permanent collection for Night of Museums, engaging hundreds of visitors in a hands-on interpretation of classical art.

PureGym

Commissioned to create a permanent large-scale mural for the company’s flagship New York location, celebrating movement, community, and the unique character of the surrounding neighborhood.

LPL Financial

Designed and led a collaborative painting experience for the opening of LPL Financial’s New York headquarters, resulting in two permanent artworks created with employees and leadership.

LEGO Group & Tekerd Studio

Partnered with LEGO and Tekerd Studio in Hungary to produce a large-scale interactive painting alongside a 35,000-piece LEGO mosaic during a public festival attended by thousands of visitors.

Garden of Collective Futures

Represented Hungary in Garden of Collective Futures, a multinational public art project presented by the Liszt Institute New York and the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC). Created alongside artists representing nine European countries, the mural was installed at Cooper Square and East 5th Street in Manhattan as a celebration of cultural exchange, collaboration, and a shared European future.

Vornado Realty

Designed a 2,000-square-foot permanent mural for Rego Center in Queens and developed a series of community painting events that invited local residents to help shape the public space through art.

McDermott Will & Emery | One Vanderbilt

Created a permanent collection of original artworks, including a large-scale lobby mural and commissioned paintings for executive conference spaces within One Vanderbilt in Manhattan.

New York Hall of Science

Designed and directed a three-day interactive art installation for the museum’s grand reopening, inviting hundreds of visitors to collaborate on large-scale paintings celebrating science, architecture, and exploration.

Hungarian Summit

Created interactive public artworks during international business summits in both the United States and Hungary, bringing together entrepreneurs, civic leaders, diplomats, and innovators through collaborative painting experiences.
