Medium: Acrylic mural

Completed: 2026

The opportunity

PureGym commissioned a large-scale mural for its flagship Brooklyn location within the historic Prospect Park Bathhouse, a New York City landmark. The initial vision centered on incorporating the company’s branding and “Feel PureGym Good” campaign into the space. Together, we recognized an opportunity to create something more enduring: a site-specific artwork that could express the spirit of the brand while celebrating the building’s architecture, the character of Park Slope, and the experience of arriving at the gym.

The Approach

Rather than relying on logos and messaging, the mural translates the feeling behind the brand into a visual experience. Inspired by the nearby Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch at Grand Army Plaza and the architectural rhythm of Brooklyn, the composition combines bold color, geometric forms, and expressive movement to create an energetic sense of arrival.

The design was carefully adapted to the building itself, weaving around structural steel, lighting, ventilation, and the sloping entrance ramp so the architecture and artwork feel fully integrated. Close collaboration with PureGym’s marketing and leadership teams ensured the final mural balanced brand identity with a distinctive artistic voice, creating a destination unique to this location. Once completed, the mural was sealed with a protective architectural coating to ensure years of durability in a high-traffic public environment.

The outcome

Completed ahead of schedule, Prospect Gateway transformed an ordinary interior wall into a lasting landmark. Visible from across the gym, the mural creates a strong first impression and encourages visitors to move toward it, rewarding them with new details as they approach. By translating the spirit of the PureGym brand into a work of art rooted in Brooklyn’s architecture and history, the project demonstrates how creative placemaking can enrich both a space and the experience of everyone who enters it.

“The mural perfectly complements the gym. It’s eye-catching without being overwhelming, and the colors really support and enhance the space. Looking at the mural makes me feel good, and to me, that was the goal. Our brand motto is ‘Feel PureGym Good,’ and that’s exactly what the mural evokes. I knew the wall was big, but seeing the finished mural brought the entire space to life.”
